Easy potato stamps for kids

One of the fondest memories I have of kindergarten is making potato stamp pictures with my classmates. While I was peeling potatoes the other night for dinner, the memory popped back into my head and I decided to make a few stamps for the kids — they loved it! Not only is this a super quick craft to whip up, you can find all the supplies right in your pantry.

Here’s what you’ll need:

    • Potatoes (any type will work, except for mashed of course)
    • Small cookie cutters
    • A small paring knife
    • Paint
    • Paintbrushes/sponges
    • Paper

Tip: Stamping can get a little messy; make sure to use washable paint.

How to make your stamps:

  1. Cut potato in half (dab it with paper towel to ensure the potato is dry).
  2. Press the cookie cutter into the center of the potato and cut around the cutter with your knife, removing the surrounding potato.
  3. Add a little paint to the potato stamp. Tip: using a sponge brush gives an even coating.
  4. Stamp away!
