Free Family Day activities in Metro Vancouver


Nothing is nicer than filling an entire day with fun family activities. It’s even nicer if those fun activities are FREE! Family Day is coming up on Monday, February 8 and there’s a ton of things going on. Take advantage of these free Family Day activities in Metro Vancouver.

Take in a kid concert


Award-winning children’s musician Will Stroet will be playing a free concert with his Backyard Band at the West Vancouver Community Centre lobby (2121 Marine Drive) at 10:30 a.m.

Will entertains children of all ages with his educational music in both English and French. Also catch him on the preschool television series Will’s Jams airing across Canada on Kids’ CBC weekday mornings at 7:25 a.m. and 9:25 a.m.

Play & create at your local community centre


Check out your local community/recreational centre for free activities. The Maple Ridge Leisure Centre has a ton of free and fun things for the whole family, including art classes, family yoga, swimming, and even a free pickleball game. Check out the full list here.

Take a family portrait


Head to the Shadbolt Centre For the Arts in Burnaby on Saturday, February 6 for a fun Irving Penn inspired family portrait – props and costumes supplied! Staff will be on site between 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to snap portraits with your supplied camera. Address: 6450 Deer Lake Avenue, Burnaby.

The Langley Centennial Museum is also holding a free dress-up family portrait event on February 8 from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. While you’re there, stop by their giant craft station and take part in a history scavenger hunt. Address: 9135 King St, Fort Langley.

Hit the ice


When was the last time you went ice skating with the family? Celebrate Family Day in true Canadian style by hitting the ice at the CanIan Ice Sports Twin Rinks in Langley.

The City of Langley is hosting two free family skates at 10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. -3:15 p.m. Don’t skate? Head upstairs for a variety of crafts and activities. Space is limited, so don’t be late! Address: 5700 Langley Bypass, Langley.

Break out your Bollywood moves

Give back


There is no greater pleasure than the feeling of giving back to your community. Join the Park Spark team in Coquitlam on February 8 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. to clean and beautify Como Lake Park.
