Choosing a suitable stroller is one of the hardest decisions you’ll make as a new mom. My advice is to plan for the future.
My husband and I were planning to have two kids very close in age, so that helped us narrow the search for the right stroller, but we still had a ton of options to pick from. We cleared our schedules and weekend after weekend we hit the baby stores like used car lots. We kicked the stroller tires, we pushed them around the store, we practised folding them up, and we asked the store staff a ton of questions.
Double stroller vs. rumble seat
A lot of parents consider buying a double stroller when their second child comes along – don’t! If you have the option, I highly recommend adding a rumble seat, and here’s why:
- You can still fit through doorways and manoeuvre the stroller as usual. The only thing you might notice is that it’s heavier as the older child sits in it.
- The UPPAbaby Vista rumble seat is super easy to put on and take off and easy to pack in the car.
- You have the option of having your children face each other. My son didn’t like the stroller until his sister was seated in front of him making funny faces.
- Now we’re finally able to go for walks with our dog. My toddler walks a tad bit slow, so it was hard to manage her, the stroller and our enormous dog on walks. Now with the rumble seat we get out way more often.
I still find I have plenty of room at the bottom of the stroller too. The only downside I would say the rumble seat has is that it won’t last that long for my family. My son is seven months old and fitting into 12-18 month clothing, so he’s a little bigger than we anticipated, and for some unforeseen circumstances our rumble seat took a really long time to come after we ordered it. Hopefully I can squeeze a few more months in because I absolutely love it.
