I have to admit that in the past, whenever I was at a checkout counter and the cashier asked me if I wanted to sign up for free products or coupons, I would always roll my eyes and say no thanks. I would imagine myself receiving pamphlets and flyers in the mail well into my retirement. But since I’ve started my family, I’ve learned that sometimes signing up for these promotions pays off.
Here are a few of my favourite baby freebies. Oh, and I should mention that I’m not getting paid to promote these.
- Nestlé baby pack
I joined the Nestlé Baby Program when I was checking out at the Tyme Maternity store during my first pregnancy and I was not disappointed. Right after my daughter was born, a large package showed up at my door filled with great products that I still use today.
The freebies included: a much needed pack of diapers (which we went through in 24 hours), formula, a bottle, rice cereal and the crème de la crème – a diaper bag with changing pad that we use almost every day. You can sign up at Tyme or join online.
2. Enfamil samples
Freebie: formula samples & coupons
As breastfeeding started to wind down for us, it was great having these samples on hand when we were on the go. Check out their site for more information.
Similac also has a club you can sign up for to receive free samples. I haven’t tried this one, but it might be a great way to try out different brands of formula as some are easier on baby’s tummy than others.
3. Thrifty Foods
Freebie: free birthday cake
I actually learned about this freebie from my friend when I attended her daughter’s first birthday. All you have to do is call 24 hours in advance and you’ll have a free 8×12 birthday cake ready to pick up for your child’s first birthday. Check out their site for more info.
4. Babies R Us registry pack
Freebies: diaper, wipes, pacifier, bottle & more
If you register at Babies R Us, you are automatically signed up to receive a few free gifts, which include a Huggies diaper and wipes (perfect for throwing in your hospital bag), Johnson & Johnson baby wash, a NUK® pacifier, a Playtex bottle and a ton of useful coupons. Check in store for details or register online here.
5. Shutterfly promotion
Freebie: $20 off
Right now, when you shop at Motherhood Maternity, you’ll receive a $20 card for Shutterfly. I’m planning to use mine to send out birth announcements when my son is born. Also, the offer doesn’t expire until July 31, so that allows me plenty of time to redeem.
